Orlando’s indie video game scene has become one of the most-cohesive communities in the city.
Part of the reason is Indienomicon, which has organized game builders here for more than five years.
The organization has helped organize a series of events that have built the community’s camaraderie.
A coworking space downtown is home to several studios.
In addition, a stream of students building games at UCF and Full Sail means constant turnover in the industry.
It contributes to a community that has followed an impressive blueprint.
While indie firms develop titles, they have also used their skillsets to land contracts with NASA and other large firms.
That provides the community and its companies precious time and capital to keep building their games.
