About Orlando Tech News

Orlando Tech News launched on Aug. 7, 2020, as a way to share the news of Orlando’s tech community.

Founder Marco Santana had spent nearly six years embedded within the ecosystem, telling its story through the lens of its people as the Orlando Sentinel’s tech reporter.

That approach is where the site’s slogan came from.

“Telling the Orlando tech story by focusing on the people building the businesses that drive it.”

As a longtime professional journalist, Santana learned that people’s stories are what drive a business’ story.

No matter how large or small a company, it comes down to people executing and creating.

For three years, the site was an occasionally updated passion project.

Then, in mid-2023, Orlando Tech News started to receive attention from people who wanted to help it grow and make it sustainable.

The result was a renewed effort to establish the page as a news leader in Central Florida.

Santana has had the pleasure of interviewing astronauts, politicians, tech stalwarts like Tim Cook and Steve Wozniak, along with space leaders like Elon Musk. But he never changed his approach, as he sought a good story to write with everyone from the day one startup founders to these high-profile tech leaders.
