A statewide awards gala honoring women in tech and entrepreneurship will be held in Orlando next year after the group behind it landed an Orlando Technology Support Grant.
The group, which is formally called Women in Tech & Entrepreneurship, was one of six to land the grant, which is administered by Orlando Tech Community and City of Orlando.
The new gala will include three categories: an innovator award, a rising star and community catalyst.
“This grant is a powerful validation of our mission to create opportunities for women and allies in tech,” Raechel Canipe, Women in Tech and Entrepreneurship CEO, told Orlando Tech News.
Other efforts made possible by the grant are an expanded educational effort, more workshops and more resources to help entrepreneurs.
Other honorees were Indienomicon Foundation, Orlando Innovation League, Orlando Science Center, Tech Sassy Girlz and Unreal Engine User Group’s Orlando chapter.
“We are honored to stand alongside such impactful organizations working to build a more inclusive and innovative Orlando,” Canipe said.
“Each of these groups is driving innovation, expanding opportunity, and building a more inclusive, future-ready Orlando,” Orlando Tech Community leaders said in a LinkedIn post. “Let’s celebrate their commitment to fostering a thriving tech ecosystem — and congratulate them on this well-deserved recognition!”
