In a move that solidifies its position in the themed entertainment industry, Orlando-based Falcon’s Beyond Global announced Thursday the acquisition of Oceaneering Entertainment Systems, a significant player known for its cutting-edge ride and show system technologies.
Company officials said the acquisition brings OES’s patented technologies, engineering expertise, and a substantial local facility under the Falcon’s Beyond umbrella, signaling a major expansion for the company.
CEO and cofounder Cecil Magpuri in a press release called the deal a “game changer.”
A “Game Changer” Acquisition
The Orlando company has also taken over the lease for a 106,000-square-foot facility near Florida Mall, which is expected to significantly boost its research, development, testing, and integration services in Central Florida.
The move also appears to expand its presence within Orlando’s tech scene. Additionally, Falcon’s Beyond has welcomed key members of OES’s experienced team into its ranks. The agreement, which follows a November 2024 letter of intent, includes an option for Falcon’s to acquire certain OES inventory before mid-July.
OES: A Legacy of Innovation in Theme Park Technology
Houston-based OES has had a long history of innovation in award-winning rides and other theme park elements for more than 25 years.
They have received a dozen Thea Awards from the Themed Entertainment Association for attractions like The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man and Transformers: The Ride 3D at Universal Orlando Resort. In addition, OES installations at Kennedy Space Center and Six Flags have also been highly decorated.
Falcon’s Beyond, which spun off from Falcon’s Creative Group in 2021, has been expanding its reach in the entertainment world. The company opened its second Katmandu theme park in Punta Cana and launched its first mobile game and animated series in the last two years.
Looking ahead, Falcon’s Beyond officials said the company will ensure ongoing support for all existing OES products, maintaining continuity with the same personnel and technology that OES provided as the original equipment manufacturer.
Strategic Alignment and Future Growth
“Falcon’s Attractions has brought on a deep bench of the top entertainment systems experts in the industry,” said Dave Mauck, president of Falcon’s Attractions. “I’ve worked with many of these team members for decades, and their collective experience is truly remarkable.”
Mauck had been an executive with OES for more than three decades before coming on as president in February.
The acquisition underscores the company’s strategic vision, officials said, to emphasize storytelling, design and technology while pushing the future of consumer experiences.
